What the Pho Food Truck Review

Today was a food truck day. It was noon, I was hungry, and there were about 18 food trucks lined up around the block from where I work. After walking past all of the trucks and glancing at their menus, What the Pho was the truck that really jumped out at me.

Besides looking really cool, the truck offered a great variety of rice bowls, bahn mi sandwiches, pho, and summer rolls (like spring rolls but wrapped in rice paper and not deep fried). I settled on the lemongrass chicken breast rice bowl and was presently surprised when they handed me my order. The bowl was a large plastic bowl filled with huge chunks of chicken and plenty of jasmine rice. The herbs and vegetables on top of the bowl were the cherry on top.

Normally, when I go to a food truck I feel like I'm ripped off--I always pay too much and get measly portions. But What The Pho really delivered with this perfect sized lunch entree ($8). The best part of the bowl was the chicken, which was perfectly cooked in delicious spices and what tasted like a light teriyaki sauce. They even provided a small cup of flavored chili oil to pour over the rice and chicken, which gave it an extra kick of heat and flavor.

In comparison to the other DC food trucks I've visited, this gives the best portion at the best price. I can't wait to go back and try their bahn mi option. See you there.
