Tabard Inn Review

If you're looking for the quintessential DC brunch place, look no further. The search ends here. Tabard Inn, part of Hotel Tabard Inn, a Dupont Circle fixture and one of DC's oldest hotels, is it. Tabard Inn is just a few minute walk from the center of Dupont Circle, but once you walk into the Hotel's front doors, you're transported into a quaint, rustic inn that could charm the pants off of anyone.

Tabard Inn serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner, but I'm most concerned with their brunch. I'm most concerned with their brunch because that is what they're known for. Brunch is an institution in DC, and Tabard Inn is the gold-standard of DC brunch spots.

First and foremost, if you go to Tabard Inn, you have to get the donuts. Homemade, lightly sugar-coated, and still warm, they are heavenly. Dip them in the vanilla whipped cream and you will never be the same.

Donuts aside, Tabard does both savory and sweet very well. They've got a great variety of egg dishes as well as pancakes and French toast for those who need a sugar fix. Their prices are insanely low for the quality and charm of the inn and it's product (the average brunch item costs $15). If you're in the mood for a little something extra, try Tabard's mimosas.

My 3 top dishes:

1. Tabard Inn Donuts -- Just look at that picture. C'mon
2. Huevos Rancheros -- House-made tortilla, a duo of salsas, and delicious guacamole
3. Scrambled Eggs -- House-made Toulouse sausage makes this dish a winner
