Gotham West Market

After hearing so much about Gotham West Market (and seeing it ALL over Instagram), I knew I had to take a trip out there. It's a bit of a trek, but definitely worth it.

As an ardent taco fanatic, I was overjoyed to see Choza Taqueria, an authentic Mexican taco shop at Gotham West.

After several minutes of indecision, I decided upon the carnitas tacos with pickled vegetables. There's something about pickled veggies that cuts the fat of carnitas so perfectly, and Choza executed the tacos with a complimentary and delicate balance of fat/tangy. The tacos were wrapped in two small corn tortillas each, which were some of the best corn tortillas I've ever tasted. They were the ideal size and texture, and it was smart to wrap each taco in two tortillas to prevent any filling from escaping the corn shell.

My sister went to Gotham Market with me and visited Ivan Ramen, where she got the signature ramen dish with chicken. She loved the broth, but some of the chicken was tough and hard to chew. That was slightly disappointing, seeing how highly lauded Ivan Ramen has been.

Another great part of Gotham West is that they offer a wide variety of beers and other alcohols, which you can enjoy inside the market, or at picnic tables right outside. Gotham West is a perfect casual date spot or a great place to relax on a weekend with friends. It's worth the hike.
